MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to make an open invitation for the next conference: GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL WARMING-2011 (GCGW-11) which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 11-14, 2011.

Evidences that global Earth temperature is on the rise are mounting together with signs that the Earth system may go through significant forcing. This offers a great opportunity to update the views about the Earth system, think globally, take a new look to old problems, seek for new ideas and solutions, challenge current paradigms of energy use, and of land and ocean resources exploitation.

GCGW–11 aims at bringing together researchers, scientists, engineers, practitioners, policy makers, even politicians from all over the world to exchange information, present new technologies and developments, and discuss the future directions, strategies and priorities in a global warming scenario, namely energy use and energy efficiency, mitigation and adaptation strategies.

GCGW-11 will include plenary sessions, keynote lectures, and several specialized sessions on different topics related to global warming and potential solutions. Industry participation is very welcomed, and we hope that the conference will lead to effective and fruitful communication between the research, government and industrial communities. I hope that you will find the next conference, GCGW-11, both enjoyable and valuable, as the previous GCGW held in Istanbul in 2008 and 2009, and also enjoy the architectural, historical, cultural and natural beauty of Lisbon.

I look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you all in Lisbon, on July 11-14, 2011, for the next GCGW-11.

A. Heitor Reis
Conference Chair
